Stephen Cooper

Senior Electrical Engineer (National Diploma in Engineering, Diploma in Electrotechnology, REA)

Stephen has been involved in the electrical industry for more than 25 years, with a client base that includes the University of Otago, Dunedin City Council and Otago Regional Council.

He has a passion for lighting design and enjoys utilising leading edge control technology to provide clients with modern efficient lighting design which enhances their environment.

Stephen lives in Dunedin, enjoying mountain biking, multi-sport racing, orienteering and rogaine events, and golf.

Highlights

  • University of Otago Psychology Building – designed to meet a 5 Green Star rating, and including automated DALI lighting control and combined heating power unit to reduce the capacity demand for the building and provide backup power;
  • Edgar Centre Lion Foundation Arena –designed to meet international standard sport’s lighting for broadcast and competition;
  • Otago Early Settlers Museum Redevelopment – a $35 million redevelopment requiring electrical design for galleries, auditorium, conservation and restoration spaces, climate controlled storage, administration offices and multifunction foyers;
  • University of Otago, Science Precinct Redevelopment – $45 million redevelopment of the Science I and II buildings to house state of the art laboratories including Trace Metals and Laser research facilities.
